Al-Anabi pro extreme "door slammer"!

The Al-Anabi team, sponsored by an Arab-American racing consortium, is always a winner on both the quarter and eighth mile drag racing circuits. This is a huge racing team that fields cars in the NHRA, the XDRL, and the ADRL racing leagues and associations. Al-Anabi sponsors cars in the following classes: top fuel, nitro funny car, pro extreme, pro nitrous, and junior dragster.

ADRL Drags Races

This past weekend, I was invited by the American Drag Racing League to be a photographer at their Spring National car races at the Cordova, Illinois drag strip. The raceway, located near the Quad Cities areas of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois, has been in existence for over 40 years. 

The racing classifications that competed were: top sportsman, top dragster, junior dragster (2 classes), pro extreme motorcycle, pro nitrous, pro modified, super pro modified, and pro extreme. Many teams that normally compete in this league were missing; they were competing at the Extreme Drag Racing League's (XDRL) meet in Louisiana that same weekend. Even though these teams were missing, we witnessed fantastic racing and thrills galore!

Pro Extreme Classification

 

April 2013, Adel Georgia. ADRL drag racing qualification heat. Pro Extreme Corvette prepared by Garret Race Cars and driven by Jason Scruggs of Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Scruggs has twice been the Pro Extreme World Champion with runs that exceed 200 mile per hour in only 660 feet (1/8 mile). That's haulin'!
